The 3 Peaks - Peak Oil, Peak Soil & Peak Phosphates

How do you intend to mark the 29th February?  If romance is not on the cards, debating the future of global food production could be!  The impact of global peak energy and resources on local communities will be the subject of a talk followed by a chaired debate at The Charlton Arms, Ludlow on Wednesday 29th February at 7.30pm.

Dr. Lance Mytton PhD, has wide international experience and was a leading agricultural scientist at IGER.  He considers the fact that food production is currently heavily dependent on three finite and non-renewable resources, oil, soil, and phosphates. On a global scale we are probably already past peak oil production, fast approaching peak phosphate and long past peak soil. The decline of these resources is already having a profound effect on global agriculture and on societies worldwide.  What does it mean for us in The Marches and what does the future hold?  This thought provoking talk will inspire debate on all sides and everyone is welcome to come along.Ludlow21 continues it’s Big Food Debate by joining forces with Light-Foot Enterprises to bring these issues to the top of public debate.

Light-Foot have secured LEADER funding to provide free energy surveys for 20 businesses and 20 community buildings in South Shropshire during 2012.  This service will be launched on 29th February.

All are welcome, no entry charge
