As we develop our links with local communities, HES will work in partnership with pre-existing local groups where possible. In Bishop's Castle and Clun we link with the Wasteless Society (www.wasteless.co.uk) and in Montgomery the Montgomery Energy Group - MEG. In Newtown we link with Newtown2020 (www.newtown2020.org.uk), in Knighton and Presteigne it is The Teme Valley Environment Group - TVEG (www.tveg.org.uk) and Transition Town Presteigne (http://transitionpresteigne.wikispeaces.com). Finally in Kington we work through Kleen (www.kleen.moonfruit.com).
HES is fortunate to have the services of Local Coordinators in some of the above areas. The role of a Local Coordinator is to:
- understand their community and make connections within it
- represent HES at community based events to sign up householders for our free energy surveys
- recruit new volunteers to HES and support them within the organisation
We've set up community specific pages so you can see what HES and our Local Coordinators are doing in your area. Please follow the links below and do also get in touch with them, for example to request that they attend an event you are organising or to ask about the survey process.
- Bishop's Castle and Clun - coordinated by Dave Thomlinson (davet@h-e-s.org)
- Knighton and Presteigne - coordinated by Mandy Brick (amandab@h-e-s.org)
- Montgomery - coordinated by Mike Membery (mikem@h-e-s.org)
