HES in Newtown
The Household Energy Service has been providing free independent, expert advice to help people in and around Newtown, since June 2008. HES advice can enable any local household to save money, and cut their carbon footprint, by using energy more efficiently. With prices rising for electricity, gas, oil and petrol, affordable winter warmth is becoming a concern for many people. Without charge or obligation, HES offers helpful advice about insulation, more efficient heating, and other information, to encourage people to take positive action. HES also knows about the practicalities of installing renewable energy technologies, such as solar panels, on a domestic scale, and recovery of costs, over time.
Whatever your household situation, HES offers you a specially prepared free report, including details of your carbon footprint, with specific suggestions to help you to reduce it. In order to present relevant recommendations, we need to know about your home energy use. The HES service begins with a simple survey. We will be pleased to arrange a home visit by a HES Surveyor, at a time to suit you. Alternatively, we can supply a special form you can complete yourself, to enable you to obtain a HES report. Just let us know your contact details. Call the HES office on 01588 630683 or email: sues@h-e-s.org. Another option is to call in at Newtown’s Ponthafren Centre in Longbridge Street, on any Tuesday afternoon between 2.00 and 3.00 pm, when HES Surveyors are always on hand.
Members of the HES energy team prepare recommendations, based on each household’s survey information. HES reports are generally posted to each client within two or three weeks following surveys. So that we can deliver the benefits of our valuable service to more people, without charge, HES offers free training to anybody interested in helping others to save energy. Please contact me, Terry Heggarty, (terryh@h-e-s.org) if you would like more information about Newtown HES, or if you might be interested in joining the growing team of local people carrying out HES surveys for others.
